The Buccaneers will recognize two offensive players associated with some of the franchise’s best days in special ceremonies this season.

Retired fullback Mike Alstott and quarterback Doug Williams have been inducted into the Buccaneers’ Ring of Honor, the team said Wednesday.

Alstott will be honored during the Buccaneers’ Sunday, October 4 game vs. Carolina. Williams’ ceremony will be held Sunday, December 6 vs. Atlanta.

A six-time Pro Bowler, Alstott played his entire career with the Buccaneers, racking up 7,372 combined rushing-receiving yards and 71 touchdowns. He was a member of the Bucs’ Super Bowl XXXVII-winning squad, scoring a rushing touchdown in Tampa Bay’s 48-21 rout of Oakland.

The Buccaneers’ No. 1 pick in 1978, Williams played five seasons with Tampa Bay and was the starter on a club that made the NFC title game in 1979. He would later garner Super Bowl XXII MVP honors in Washington’s 42-10 victory over Denver. Williams was a member of the Buccaneers’ front office from 2004 through 2010.
