Bucs sign seventh-rounder Cody Grimm

According to the good folks at PewterReport.com, the Bucs have signed seventh-round pick Cody Grimm to a four-year contract. Financial terms haven’t been disclosed.

Grimm is the son of longtime Redskins offensive lineman and current Cardinals assistant head coach Russ Grimm. A walk-on at Virginia Tech, Cody started just one year for the Hokies but earned first-team All-ACC honors in a terrifically productive senior season. Grimm led Frank Beamer’s club in tackles (106) and tackles for loss (12.5), and registered a whopping seven forced fumbles to lead the nation.

An “in-the-box” safety/linebacker hybrid in college, Grimm’s primary role in Tampa Bay will be in kickoff coverage. He possesses the sort of gung-ho mentality to excel as a gunner.
