Cam Newton proves that chivalry is not dead, or even dirty

Cam Newton’s offensive line hasn’t been able to keep him clean for a few years.

So maybe that’s why he was so sensitive to the needs of others yesterday.

The Panthers quarterback risked his white pants at the Preakness Stakes yesterday, helping a damsel in distress by carrying her over the muddy track, via Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review.

Newton, as is his custom, was sharply attired, wearing a bright red blazer, a bow tie and white trousers. But no one was coming out clean as they tried to cross the track after the race, after downpours turned the Pimlico track to slop.

But one woman wearing a large hat got a huge assist from Newton, who gracefully scooped her up and deposited her safely on the other side.

Given some of the other dirt we’re used to dealing with this offseason, this stands as a bit of a relief.
