CHAMBERS, TUCKER RETURN TO PRACTICE

Now we know how they feel in Hawaii. With the Chargers and Saints in England for this weekend’s clash at Wembley Stadium, we’ve gotten the Wednesday participation reports far earlier than ever, thanks to the time difference. For the Chargers, receiver Chris Chamber has returned to practice after missing two games with an ankle injury. He participated on a limited basis. Also practicing on a limited basis was linebacker Jyles Tucker, who has missed several weeks with a hamstring injury. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) and receiver Buster Davis (groin) did not practice for the Chargers. For the Saints, tight end Jeremy Shockey (hernia), cornerback Mike McKenzie (knee), running back Reggie Bush (knee), guard Jahri Evans (ankle), center Jonathan Goodwin (knee), and defensive end Will Smith (abdomen) didn’t practice. Bush isn’t even in London, due to recent knee surgery. Defensive tackle Brian Young (knee/foot) practiced on a limited basis. As we pointed out in our recent Ten-Pack for SportingNews.com, we hope that the folks in England appreciate the significance of this game. With both teams at 3-4, it’s essentially a playoff game in October. For the loser, even 7-1 down the stretch might not be good enough to win a spot in the January tournament.
