The Colts will officially be without one of their starting offensive linemen for the rest of the season.

Indianapolis placed right guard Hugh Thornton on injured reserve Tuesday, the team said. The 24-year-old Thornton had missed five of the last six games with knee and shoulder injuries. Lance Louis has taken his spot in the starting lineup.

To replace Thornton on the roster, the Colts re-signed tailback Michael Hill. The 25-year-old Hill spent a week on Indianapolis’ practice squad in November and finished the regular season on Washington’s practice squad.

Hill’s addition gives the Colts four tailbacks on the roster. He joins Dan Herron, Trent Richardson and Zurion Tipton.
