Six days after starting at running back for the Cowboys against the Rams, Tashard Choice is done in Dallas.

The Cowboys decided today to waive Choice, making room on the 53-man roster for linebacker Bruce Carter, a rookie second-round draft pick who is being activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

“I just want to say thanks to all the great Dallas Cowboy fans,” Choice wrote on Twitter. “My time in Dallas has come to an end and the best is yet come. God bless.”

Although Choice got the start against the Rams, he carried just twice for eight yards, and the game was marked by the emergence of DeMarco Murray, who set a Cowboys franchise record with 253 rushing yards on the day. Murray’s brilliant performance made Choice expendable.

Choice has gained just 75 yards on 28 carries this season.
