#DeflateGate ball goes for more than $40,000

A #DeflateGate football has sold for an inflated price. (Yeah, I said it.)

Via Darren Rovell of ESPN.com, one of the balls used by the Patriots in the AFC title game against the Colts generated an auction price of $43,740.

The item had a reserve of $25,000, but Lelands.com chairman Joshua Evans predicted the ball could go for more than $100,000.

Patriots receiver Brandon LaFell gave the ball to Laura Nichols, a fan in the stands during the game, after running back LeGarrette Blount scored a 13-yard touchdown and dropped the ball to the ground.

The ball was one of 11 that had been measured and re-inflated at halftime of the game by league officials, following a first-half complaint from the Colts that the 12th ball, intercepted by linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, had been deflated.
