Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has played 101 games in his NFL career, so he’s seen a lot of different defenses. But he thinks the one he’s practicing against right now is better than any of them.
Metcalf said on NFL Network that going 11-on-11 against the Steelers’ defense in training camp is the toughest challenge he has faced in the league, saying Steelers cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr., Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay are as good as it gets.
“That reckless defense that we’ve got on the other side of the ball, every play I get to go against JPJ, Jalen or Slay, so I’m always getting better in that aspect,” Metcalf said.
Metcalf said practicing against this defense is harder than playing against any other defense.
“I think they’re the best defense I’ve ever seen,” Metcalf said. “They come to work every day and we don’t have any choice but to get better.”
If Metcalf is right about that, he and Aaron Rodgers won’t have to score a lot of points to win a lot of games.
