Green Bay receiver Donald Driver thinks the Packers did more than just beat the Saints on Thursday night. According to Driver, they also sent a message to the rest of the NFL that the defending Super Bowl champions are even better than they were a year ago.
“We went out and played well. We showed what this offense can do,” Driver said after the game. “This team is dangerous. If we keep playing at this level, the sky is the limit.”
The Packers’ passing game certainly looked dangerous. Aaron Rodgers picked up right where he left off in the postseason, completing 27 of 35 passes for 312 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, for a passer rating of 132.1.
Driver contributed four catches and 42 yards of that, and in the process he reached two career milestones: Driver tied James Lofton for the most receiving yards in Packers history (9,656) and became the first Packer to catch 700 passes in his career.
