Around this time last year, wide receiver Duron Carter signed with the Colts after visiting with several teams around the league.

Carter had been productive in two years with the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL, had good size and is the son of Cris Carter, which accounted for the interest but they didn’t add up to immediate NFL success. Carter didn’t make the Colts out of training camp and never got off the practice squad during the regular season.

The Colts didn’t sign him to a futures contract for the 2016 season and Carter won’t be taking another tour of NFL teams. The Alouettes announced Monday that Carter has returned to the other side of the border.

“We welcome Duron back to the Alouettes family. His ability to make big plays will add unlimited potential to our new revamped offense,” Alouettes General Manager and head coach Jim Popp said in a statement.

It’s a one-year deal, so Carter could potentially take another shot at the NFL down the line. For now, though, he’ll need to brush up on his French.
