Favre Interview Set In Motion Months Ago

Tonight’s live HBO interview with Brett Favre apparently isn’t an all-of-a-sudden development triggered by the retired quarterback contemplating playing for the Minnesota Vikings this fall. According to Joe Buck, who will be chatting with the former NFL Most Valuable Player tonight, the interview has been set up since April. “I called him in early April and locked him in, way before the Minnesota stuff popped up, ’’ Buck told Dan Caesar of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Thought he would be the perfect guy to talk about celebrity and life as a Packer legend in a small town like Green Bay. Now, the timing makes him the most relevant guest we could have this side of [Iranian president Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad.” According to Buck, Favre hasn’t had a change of heart about doing the interview since his flirtation/courtship with the Vikings began generating headlines, saying, “He said he would be my first guest and he is coming.” And we’ll be watching and curious to hear how Favre handles multiple questions about his health and plans.
