Favre won’t let McNabb rush his decision

Brett Favre is going to take his time about deciding whether or not to play in 2010, and he won’t allow the possibility of the Minnesota Vikings trading for Donovan McNabb to make him speed things up.

Ed Werder of ESPN is reporting that Favre is aware of reports that McNabb’s preference, if he is going to be traded, is to be traded to Minnesota.

But Werder, citing a “prominent Vikings source,” says Favre isn’t going to move any faster just because making up his mind now would allow the Vikings and Eagles to act fast on a trade. Werder reports that the Vikings are still not pressuring Favre to make up his mind.

It may be a moot point anyway, as the Eagles claim they’re not actively shopping McNabb, and McNabb’s agent says there have been no talks about where McNabb would like to be traded because they’re not going to cross that bridge until they get to it.

But to the extent that an Eagles-Vikings trade would make sense, it would only make sense if the Vikings are sure Favre will retire. And Favre won’t give them that assurance any time soon.
