Tebow-mania has spread from Florida to Denver and is now catching on with Chinese counterfeiters.
The Tampa Tribune is reporting that U.S. Customs & Border Protection in Tampa seized $8,175 in counterfeit sports jerseys arriving from China last week, including several No. 15 Denver Broncos jerseys with Tim Tebow’s last name on the back.
The jerseys looked more or less like officially licensed NFL merchandise, but they weren’t.
“They were good quality [counterfeits], and they had the hologram that you’re supposed to have on the official garment,” Customs & Border Protection spokesman Daniel Keefe said.
Knockoff jerseys are illegal, and the feds say they could even be flammable. So if you don’t want to catch fire, you’re probably better off spending the extra money for the real thing.
