The Colts are no stranger to bold moves in free agency (a few of which have worked), and this year is no different.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Colts are signing former Eagles pass-rusher Trent Cole.
That would fall right in line with their reported pursuit of other aging stars, although there are some curious elements to it.
Cole was happy to get out of Philadelphia because he wasn’t as comfortable rushing the passer as a stand-up outside linebacker. But the Colts aren’t anything resembling a 4-3 base defense, which means they’ll either adjust or Cole will.
It’s also another former Eagles player for Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson, who has also brought in former Eagles guard Todd Herremans.
