Gardner Minshew: We know what we’re getting with Zack Moss

The Colts won’t have running back Jonathan Taylor for a couple of weeks as he deals with a thumb injury. But still very much a part of the AFC playoff race, the club has Zack Moss ready and available.

Moss is Indianapolis’ leading rusher this season, having begun the season as the starter while Taylor was still on the physically unable to perform list.

That’s part of why quarterback Gardner Minshew is plenty comfortable with handing off to Moss as the team’s de facto top back.

“He’s being super consistent,” Minshew said in his Wednesday press conference. “We know what we’re getting with Zack. Love giving him the ball. He’s been on my fantasy team all year — it’s been great, so happy for me. Love Zack, excited to get him really rolling again.”

Back in October, Moss put together the best game of his career against Indianapolis’ upcoming opponent, Tennessee. Moss had 165 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns plus two catches for 30 yards in the 23-16 victory.

The Colts will be on the road when they face the Titans this weekend, but Minshew figures Moss can still show his strength as a runner.

“I mean shoot, when he’s like really playing, he’s leading the league,” Minshew said. “One of the best in the league — can make guys miss, getting some really hard yards you wouldn’t expect. Excited to get him rolling again.”

In 10 games with five starts, Moss has rushed for 672 yards with five touchdowns and caught 18 passes for 138 yards with a TD.
