The Giants weren’t deep in the secondary anyway, when Prince Amukamara suffered a pectoral injury which could keep him out for a month.

So they had to go outside for some help, signing cornerback Leon McFadden off the Cardinals practice squad, waiving safety Cooper Taylor to make the roster spot.

McFadden, a 2013 third-round pick of the Browns, was cut by them a year later and spent last year with the Jets and 49ers, before he was cut by San Francisco this year. A former 68th overall pick, he helps explain the Browns about as well as anything else.

The Giants also shuffled the practice squad, bringing back tight end Jerome Cunningham and offensive lineman Adam Gettis to the practice squad, and releasing tackle Xavier Proctor.
