One of the Panthers’ top defensive linemen returned to practice Friday as the club went through its last major day of on-field work before Sunday’s game at Miami.

Defensive end Greg Hardy, who sat out Thursday with a knee ailment, was present at practice this morning, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reported.

While Hardy was back in action, the Panthers are still without defensive end Charles Johnson, who was not at practice, Person reported. PFT reported earlier Friday that Johnson is a long shot to play Sunday after suffering an MCL sprain after being leg-whipped in Monday night’s win vs. New England.

Johnson leads the Panthers with 8.5 sacks, with Hardy second on the club with six. The Dolphins have struggled in pass protection this season, surrendering 41 sacks.
