Bruce Smith convicted of DUI

Roughly one month before a day that Bruce Smith will remember forever, he had one he’d like to forget.

The all time NFL sacks leader was convicted of DUI Thursday in a Virginia court.

Smith has been arrested three times for driving while intoxicated, but this is the first time he’s been convicted of the charge.

The former Buffalo Bills stalwart received a 90-day suspended jail term, and the court fined him $350.

Smith says he’ll appeal the verdict.

His lawyer argued previously that Smith struggled with the heel-to-toe walk of the field sobriety test because of all his previous surgeries.

Smith will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 8.
