Well, it appears that the culprit in the plagiarism scandal is Chris Landry, and that the victim is Mike Lombardi. The evidence? Landry’s December 1 column also contains striking similarities to Andrew Brandt’s Monday column at the same web site for which Lombardi currently writes. From Brandt: “The Giants have a few options but will likely take their lead from the league in the invocation of the Personal Conduct Policy. Meanwhile, the injury sustained from his apparent self-inflicted gunshot is obviously a non-football injury, making him a candidate for the NFI (Non-Football Injury) list. With four games remaining, this list would be season ending, and the Giants would have no obligation to pay Burress his salary -- $117,500 per game -- for the time he is on the list. A suspension, however, would make NFI irrelevant, since Burress would not be paid for any time on suspension.” From Landry: “The Giants have a few options but will likely take their lead from the league in the invocation of the Personal Conduct Policy. So unless both Brandt and Lombardi are borrowing from Landry, it appears that Landry is borrowing from Brandt and Lombardi. That said, there’s a chance that Landry and Brandt/Lombardi have some type of content-sharing arrangement. But wouldn’t there be some evidence of the link? Barring a damn compelling explanation from Landry, this one currently looks very bad for him.
