At a time when most Panthers fans are focused on a tendered player who has yet to sign his one-year offer, another tendered player has done so. Per Adam Caplan of Scout.com, tight end Jeff King has accepted the one-year, $1.545 million offer that the Panthers extended in February. He had been tendered at a level that would have given the Panthers a chance to match any offer sheet that he signed with another team, and compensation in the form of a second-round pick if the Panthers had opted not to match. King, a fifth-round pick in the 2005 draft, has appeared in 44 games over three seasons, starting 16 in 2007 and 15 in 2008. His best season came in 2007, with 46 catches for 406 yards and two touchdowns.
