Jets sign Dimitri Patterson

The Jets had three players in for visits on Monday and two of them have now signed deals with the team.

Cornerback Dimitri Patterson will join wide receiver Jacoby Ford on the roster for the 2014 season. The Jets announced that the former Dolphin signed with the team on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after they made the same announcement about Ford. PFT has learned, via a league source, that it is a one-year, $3 million deal.

Patterson had four interceptions in six games for the Dolphins last season and has been effective throughout his career when he’s been able to stay on the field. He hasn’t been able to do that consistently, though, and he’ll have to solve that problem to provide the kind of help the cornerback-light Jets need at the position.

Antonio Cromartie was released earlier in the offseason and a visit with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie preceded his decision to sign with the Jets’ co-tenants at MetLife Stadium. 2013 first-rounder Dee Milliner and 2010 first-rounder Kyle Wilson were at the top of the Jets’ depth chart at corner and Patterson will presumably slide in beside them.

Guard Rich Ohrnberger also visited with the Jets on Monday.
