The Saints didn’t need defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson to get healthy before signing him.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports Wilkerson is on board in New Orleans with a one-year deal. The Rams and Bucs both were interested in the versatile lineman, but seemingly wanted to wait for his recovery from a torn ACL to progress.
Wilkerson joins Alex Brown as a recent free agent addition to the Saints’ defensive end rotation. Charles Grant was cut earlier in the offseason, and Will Smith is facing a four-game suspension.
UPDATE: Wilkerson will get $2 million in the deal.
