Earlier this week, PFT suggested that the Ravens should trade receiver Steve Smith to a contender. On Friday, coach John Harbaugh said that won’t be happening.
Via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Harbaugh told reporters of Smith, “I wouldn’t part with him.”
While there’s a chance that Harbaugh is simply looking to pump up Smith’s potential trade value, the truth remains that he’s one of the best players on the team. Without him, 1-5 could quickly become 2-14.
Which may not be a bad thing. If a team isn’t going to make it to the postseason, why not be bad enough to earn one of the top picks in the draft, along with seven-plus months of having first dibs on every player who gets waived?
