The Packers have three starters who, as of Monday, had not signed their restricted free agency tender offers.
For two of them -- cornerback Tramon Williams and defensive end Johnny Jolly -- the consequences of failing to do so before Tuesday could have included a steep drop in the required offer. (For safety Atari Bigby, the reduction will be roughly $54,000.)
Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that one of the players has signed his tender.
Specifically, defensive end Johnny Jolly officially has accepted his one-year, $2.521 million offer, putting him under contract for the 2010 season.
Absent another continuance, Jolly’s trial on codeine possession charges will commence on the same day the Packers open training camp. If the team opts not to excuse his absence, Jolly could be fined more than $16,000 per day for each day he misses while dealing with a legal entanglement that could cause him, theoretically, to miss all 16 regular-season games.
