The Packers might be thin in the secondary at the moment, but they walked into the week deeper than the Panthers receiving corps.
And we’re going to have to wait to see if their one legitimate threat will be able to play.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera told reporters after practice that rookie wideout Kelvin Benjamin was questionable for Sunday’s game against the Packers because of last week’s concussion.
Benjamin practiced today for the first time this week, but hasn’t yet been cleared by an independent neurologist.
If he can’t go, the Panthers will try to match the Packers’ offense with a group of receivers including Jason Avant, Jerricho Cotchery, Philly Brown and Brenton Bersin.
(Giving you a moment to look half of those guys up.)
That makes for an even matchup (or not) with the Packers even without Sam Shields and possibly Tramon Williams.
The Panthers are expected to have running back Jonathan Stewart back on the field this week, which should help ease some of the pressure on quarterback Cam Newton.
