Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa wasn’t sweating his meeting with the media Friday morning, strolling to the podium, and looking around with a casual “what’s up?”
And while his mellow style made for an amusing interview, he also had a frank assessment of where he thought he fit into the 2016 NFL Draft.
“I do, I do belive I’m the best player in the draft,” Bosa said. “As a top player, if you don’t believe that, there’s something wrong.”
Of course, Bosa might be in that mix regardless his feelings, as his pass-rushing ability is the kind that would attract attention anyway, with 26.0 sacks in three seasons at Ohio State.
He was relaxed with reporters, joking that after interviewing with teams a session inside the media center was no big deal. And with his “the Dude abides,” approach, he avoided some of the trickier questions.
Asked about his season-opening one-game suspension, Bosa said he’d discuss that with teams in a one-on-one setting, getting past the topic the way he did many tackles.
He’s a bit of a tweener by size, down to 269 pounds from his listed 275. He joked “I’m eating a ridiculous amount, I don’t know where the hell it’s going.”
But he said he’s been working on linebacker drops as well, saying he thought he’d fit in with either a 3-4 or a 4-3 front. But wherever he lands, he’s going to do so casually, and with a confident smile on his face.
