LeSean McCoy is coming back early, again

LeSean McCoy

After Bills running back LeSean McCoy strained a hamstring in August, there never seemed to be any doubt about his availability for Week One, even though in hindsight he probably should have rested.

Last week, McCoy said he’d likely be out another 3-4 weeks after aggravating the strained muscle. Which made it more than a little surprising when he returned to practice on Wednesday. On Friday, a much bigger surprise arrived, via Twitter.

The count down finally !!!!!!! 2 5 on the way,” McCoy said, which seems to be an indication that he’ll play on Sunday against the Bengals.

With quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s availability in doubt and rookie running back Karlos Williams still out with a concussion, the Bills need McCoy.

So the news that McCoy is coming back should make the Bills very happy. With perhaps the exception of receiver Sammy Watkins, who has become the first member of the Buffalo offense to complain about not getting the ball as much as he’d like it.
