When running back Ray Rice was reinstated from suspension last Friday, we took a look for potential landing spots for him in 2014 now that he’s a free agent.
One of the teams we mentioned as a possible option was the Lions, who have been without a healthy Reggie Bush for much of the season. As with the other teams discussed, the conclusion was that the Lions were unlikely to add Rice and coach Jim Caldwell confirmed that the team wasn’t going to go that route on Monday.
“We haven’t considered that at this point,” Caldwell said, via the Detroit News. “I am not sure what will happen to him in this league. Certainly I believe in second chances. At some point I think he will get one. But when it’s going to happen, I don’t know.”
The Lions are coming off their best offensive performance since the first week of the season and it’s hard to imagine that Rice would bring any great improvement over what Joique Bell, Theo Riddick and Bush, if healthy, can do over the final four weeks of the season.
