The Lions won’t lose linebacker Tahir Whitehead in free agency.
Despite some talk that Whitehead could sign with the Buccaneers, he agreed to re-sign with the Lions today.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that it’s a two-year contract worth more than $8 million.
A fifth-round pick in the 2012 draft, Whitehead played in all 16 games for the Lions last season, starting eight on defense and also working as a key contributor on special teams.
