On Tuesday, there was a report from the Buffalo News that Bills linebacker Manny Lawson is facing a possible one-game suspension from the NFL under the Personal Conduct Policy that stemmed from a domestic situation.
Lawson’s agent Jonathan Feinsod responded later in the day, saying that Lawson was not involved in a domestic violence incident and didn’t offer further response or denials to questions about why his client would be facing a suspension. It was Lawson’s turn to respond on Wednesday and he didn’t follow Feinsod’s lead when it came to the possibility of a suspension for other reasons.
Lawson also denied any domestic violence incident took place and said, via Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, that he has “no idea” where the report of a suspension came from. Lawson, who was just activated from the non-football injury list after recovering from a pectoral injury, also said he contacted the NFL in an effort to get “to the bottom of it” but has not heard back from the league.
“The only thing that has happened this off-season is the pec,” Lawson said, via Sal Capaccio of WGR.
A Lawson suspension would hurt the Bills defense in the season opener and would hurt the Bills financially due to NFL rules penalizing teams with numerous suspensions over the course of a year.
