Marcus Mariota hopes to return before season ends

While there were no shortage of reports that Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was done for the year, he said he hopes to come back for Week 17, even though it won’t mean much.

“The frustration of not being able to be out there with the guys bothers me more than what’s going on with my knee,” Mariota said, via Jason Wolf of the Tennesseean.

Mariota said the MCL sprain in his right knee isn’t as serious as the one in his left that forced him to miss two games earlier this year. But even though the Titans are 3-11 and playing for the top pick in the draft, Mariota hopes to be able to return for the finale at Indianapolis.

Though the Titans are tied for the league lead in sacks allowed, Mariota has done impressive work this year. He’s completed 62 percent of his passes, with a 91.5 rating and just 10 interceptions to go with 19 touchdowns, numbers he hopes to add to next week.
