Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett has been the subject of quite a bit of controversy for his off-field antics. There was the $22,000 fine for making an explicit rap video and posting it online. There were the nude photos of him that surfaced on the web. There was the time he tried to stir up a quarterback controversy on his own team. And that’s just for starters.

But Bennett says he’s now a changed man, because he’s a married man.

“I don’t only represent myself now,” Bennett said. “I represent my wife. I really didn’t care what anybody said about me until she started to care. . . . I am more professional with all the things I want to do right now.”

Although I congratulate Bennett on his nuptials, it’s a little disappointing to hear this. Bennett was one of the NFL players who could regularly be counted on for an amusing story. Apparently his marriage is the end of that.
