McCown may not be on the market for long

McCown

A year after the Bucs signed Josh McCown to a two-year, $10 million contract, the team decided to transform it to a one-year, $4.75 million deal -- nearly a month before the start of the new league year.

During a Thursday appearance on PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, McCown expressed gratitude to the Buccaneers for giving him a head start on finding a new job. With the Scouting Combine coming next week, chances are his agent, Mike McCartney, and another NFL team will at a minimum lay the foundation for a new contract.

Despite being uncertain a year ago about continuing his career in 2014, McCown said definitely plans to play in 2015. As noted by MDS on Thursday, McCown won’t be limiting his options to teams that provide him with a chance to start.

For the full segment with McCown, who spoke candidly about the challenges of playing without an offensive coordinator (a position for which, as he pointed out, there’s no real backup), click the button in the box below.
