As a result of last year’s violations of the rules governing offseason workouts, the Seahawks were docked a pair of on-field practice days from this week’s minicamp.

That leaves them with just one day to practice this week, but at least they’ll have two members of their defense on hand for Thursday’s workout. According to multiple reports, defensive end Michael Bennett and linebacker Bruce Irvin were both at Seahawks headquarters on Tuesday.

Both players have stayed away from the team’s offseason workouts to express dissatisfaction with their contract status. Bennett signed a four-year, $28.5 million deal last year and Bennett said he wants it adjusted upward before the 2015 season gets underway. Irvin was upset that the team didn’t exercise a $7.8 million option on his contract for 2016 and made references to playing in Atlanta before saying he’d like to remain with the Seahawks.

There didn’t seem to be much concern that either player would extend their absence into the mandatory portion of the practice schedule since it would subject them to fines. They’ll attend meetings again on Wednesday thanks to the this week’s punishments and on-field work will wait until training camp to begin in earnest.
