Mike Holmgren says 49ers weren’t interested

New York Jets v Cleveland Browns

Four years ago, 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke supposedly wanted to hire then-69-year-old Bill Parcells to be the next head coach of the team. Now with the job open again, Baalke apparently isn’t interested in 66-year-old Mike Holmgren.

That’s what Holmgren told Mitch Levy of KJR radio in Seattle on Monday, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group.

And so now Holmgren has no interest in returning to coaching.

That’s it,” he said.

Holmgren, who previously coached the Packers and Seahawks, once served as offensive coordinator in San Francisco. He previously had declined to rule out a coaching comeback, after a more recent stint as the president and surrogate owner of the Browns.
