Steelers safety Mike Mitchell played with a shoulder injury for much of last season and had surgery after the Steelers’ playoff loss to the Broncos.
The recovery from that surgery appears to be going well. Mitchell, who also had left hand surgery, posted a video to Instagram showing off a recent shoulder workout and captioned with a note that he is healing up well.
The Steelers start the final phase of their offseason workout program when OTAs get underway next week and there’s been no word about what, if anything, Mitchell will do during those practices. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports that he is expected to be fully cleared for training camp.
With Will Allen unsigned, Mitchell will likely be playing with a new partner at the back end of the defense in 2016. The team drafted Sean Davis in the second round and have Shamarko Thomas back as well.
