The Browns are doing their best to keep up with the Redskins in the misinformation department. We hesitate to pass all of the Browns rumors along because they conflict, which is precisely the point.
So let’s go for it.
There is a strong current of reports from Yahoo’s Charles Robinson to NFL Network that indicate the Browns prefer Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson to Florida cornerback Joe Haden. Others disagree.
Eric Berry looks like the pick if he’s available, but he’s now expected to go in the top-six. Two Cleveland papers write Thursday that the Browns may pass on the secondary altogether if Berry is gone, choosing Georgia Tech defensive Derrick Morgan.
Then, of course, there’s the notion Cleveland is a dark horse pick to trade up to for the No. 1 overall selection or trade back into the first round if Jimmy Clausen falls. (Or pass on the pick altogether.)
If we had to guess, Morgan looks like the most logical fit if Berry is gone. But the guessing game happening around the league right now is precisely what Mike Holmgren wants.
