NFL says there’s no proposal to work with NCAA on satellite camps

Coach Jim Harbaugh Camp Alabama 110

One of the major controversies in college football this offseason has surrounded satellite camps, with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and Alabama coach Nick Saban clashing over Harbaugh’s practice of having camps all over the country and even overseas in an attempt to expand Michigan’s recruiting presence.

As the NCAA considers regulating or banning the camps, an interesting report emerged today from the Virginian-Pilot. That report was headlined, “NCAA may partner with NFL to sponsor satellite football camps.”

There’s just one problem with that: The NFL says there’s no such proposal.

“We do not have any information on this,” an NFL spokesman told PFT.

Many NFL players, coaches and teams are involved in football camps during the offseason, but there’s no formal policy of working with the NCAA, nor is there likely to be in the future.
