Five weeks ago tonight, the second and third rounds of the draft took place. As of this posting, all but 34 of the players drafted have signed their rookie contracts.
Per a league source, 219 of 253 draft picks have signed rookie deals. All players in rounds five and seven have signed.
Round three continues to have the lowest number of signed picks, with 21 of 35 under contract. In round one, 21 of 31 have signed.
Round two has 31 of 32 picks under contract, 36 of 41 have signed in round four, and 42 of 46 have signed in round six.
As usual, the Rams are the only team who have signed none of their draft picks. The Rams typically sign the entire class upon conclusion of the offseason program, after coach Jeff Fisher brings an armored car containing a million dollars in cash and shows them how that amount shrinks rapidly after the payment of taxes and fees.
This year, with the team in California, the example will be even more potent, because even more taxes will be stripped away from the players’ salary.
