PACKERS ANNOUNCE MAJOR COACHING CHANGES

A week after the official “Black Monday,” a group of former Packers assistants probably could think of more colorful adjectives for the first day of the current work week. The Packers have officially announced the termination of six assistant coaches. Gone are defensive coordinator Bob Sanders, defensive ends coach Carl Hairston, defensive tackles coach Robert Nunn, secondary coach Kurt Schottenheimer, defensive nickel package/cornerbacks coach Lionel Washington, and strength & conditioning coordinator Rock Gullickson. There had been rumors that offensive line coach James Campen was in hot water. For now, though, he is still employed. The only remaining member of the defensive staff is assistant head coach/linebackers Winston Moss, who recently interviewed for the head-coaching job in St. Louis. UPDATE: We’re hearing rumblings that Joe Whitt, Jr., a quality control assistant who was not fired on Monday, will be the new defensive backs coach.
