The Panthers ignored the biggest need on their roster, to add depth to their deepest position.

With the 60th pick in the NFL Draft, they bypassed some starting offensive tackle options to add defensive end Kony Ealy from Missouri.

The Panthers currently have more than 20 percent of their salary cap tied up in defensive ends Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy.

But with Hardy a short-timer on the franchise tag, there’s no guarantee both will be there in 2015.

Ealy slid, as many thought he was a first-round talent. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder could also rush from inside, something both Johnson and Hardy excel at.
