Patriots safety Patrick Chung bet on himself this year, and it paid off.
The veteran safety turned a one-year prove-it deal with the Patriots into a starting job, and now has a new contract to go with it.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, Chung signed a three-year extension with the Patriots worth up to $8.2 million, with $3.4 million guaranteed.
The former second-round pick of the Patriots left a year ago, but only lasted one season with the Eagles before the cut him. But he played better in his second stint with the Pats, earning the new deal and a bit of security.
