The NFL continues to move toward completing eight weeks of the 2013 regular season without a single blackout.
According to the Contra Costa Times, the Raiders have sold out the reduced-capacity Oakland Coliseum for Sunday’s visit from the Steelers, which means that the game will be televised locally.
The Raiders have now sold out all four 2013 home games, and 19 of their last 20.
No NFL game has been blacked out to date, but those efforts have been aided by the ability of teams to reduce the minimum obligation from 100 percent of the non-premium tickets down to 85 -- and to buy any unsold tickets at 34 cents on the dollar. Teams like the Dolphins and Buccaneers have avoided one or more blackouts this season using both tactics.
The Rams, who have been tight lipped in the past about whether they’ve reduced their minimum ticket requirement or bought up excess tickets, are the last team standing in the way of eight full weeks of technically sold out games. Regardless of how many tickets are sold to actual persons for Monday night’s game, it’s hard to imagine many showing up for the Monday night game against the Seahawks, given that the Cardinals will be hosting the Red Sox less than a mile away for Game Five of the World Series.
