Rams pick Sam Bradford

After building maximum drama regarding a potential trade or, perhaps, the possibility of picking someone else, the St. Louis Rams have used the first pick in the draft on Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford, who won the Heisman trophy in 2008, played sparingly in 2009 after a 234-pound linebacker from BYU blew up Bradford’s shoulder.

And so he brings durability concerns to a team that has real needs along the offensive line, and that doesn’t have much in the way of weapons other than Steven Jackson.

Though the recent trend has seen round one quarterbacks thrown into the fray sooner rather than later, it’s possible that A.J. Feeley or Keith Null (we think we have the name right) could play for all or part of the 2010 season.
