The NFL announced today that 56 players -- the most ever -- have renounced their remaining college eligibility and entered this year’s draft.

The list includes three quarterbacks: Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert, Auburn’s Cam Newton and Arkansas’s Ryan Mallett. All three have the potential to be high first-round picks.

Other notable names on the list include Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley, Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, Georgia receiver A.J. Green, LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson and Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus.

The previous record for most players declaring early for the draft was 53, in both 2010 and 2008. The full list is here.
