Buccaneers running back Doug Martin said after yesterday’s loss to the Falcons he hadn’t separated his shoulder when he was hit by Falcons safety William Moore.

Turns out, it could be much worse.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Martin is believed to have suffered a torn labrum on the play, and his season could be over.

If so, it adds to what has already been a disappointing season for him and the team. He had just one 100-yard game in the first six, after rushing for 1,454 yards as a rookie.

Any injury was going to throw his status for Thursday’s game against the Panthers in doubt, but if this diagnosis is confirmed, it effectively leaves the Bucs with one good offensive player (Vincent Jackson) for the rest of the year.
