The hits keep coming for the Dallas Cowboys. Wide receiver Sam Hurd re-injured his ankle and needs surgery, coach Wade Phillips said today. Although the exact nature of the injury is not known, Hurd had X-rays following the loss to the Cardinals, and he’s not expected to be back soon. Hurd first hurt the ankle in the preseason, and as a result he missed the first three games of the regular season. He hasn’t caught a pass yet in the three games since returning to action, but he’s one of the Cowboys’ top special teams players. Last season Hurd caught 19 passes for 314 yards. Other bad news for the Cowboys includes the possible looming suspension of Adam “Pacman” Jones, the fractured right foot of punter Mat McBriar, the strained hamstring of running back Felix Jones and the broken pinky of quarterback Tony Romo. And, you know, the fact that they lost a game yesterday.
