When Dolphins defensive lineman Randy Starks missed the universal sign for “We’re No. 1!” by one digit, it was assumed he’d be making an involuntary contribution to the league’s fine fund.
Starks won’t be. The veteran defensive lineman isn’t among the players who found out this week that their future paychecks will be a bit lighter.
But that doesn’t mean Starks won’t be fined at all. The league views it as a team matter, which means that the team could choose to fine Starks.
Starks claimed he was “joking around with teammates” when flashing the finger to the Miami sideline, but he acknowledged that he shouldn’t have done it.
For their part, the Dolphins will neither confirm nor deny whether Starks was fined. And all that that possibly implies.
