Stinchcomb undergoes sports hernia surgery

Saints right tackle Jon Stinchcomb, coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance, will reportedly undergo surgery Friday for a sports hernia, according to Mike Triplette of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The injury occurred working out in the offseason.

The recovery time for such surgeries can vary, but Stinchcomb should be in good shape by training camp in late July. The Saints are rather deep at tackle these days; Stinchcomb is locked in to his starting job on the right side.

The Saints haven’t confirmed the details of the surgery, but he was forced to pull out of a charity golf tournament because of the procedure.
