Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens became the sixth player in NFL history to catch 1,000 passes in his career Sunday in the Bills’ 31-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Owens had four catches for 39 yards to join Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Cris Carter, Tim Brown and Isaac Bruce in the 1,000-catch club.
“I just go out and play the game,” Owens said afterward. “I’m blessed to be able to play this game and to play it at a productive level.”
The game actually could have featured two different players reaching the 1,000-catch mark, as Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez entered the game with 994. But Gonzalez left the game with a calf injury just before halftime and is currently at 996.
